A memorial service for William “Bill” Daniel Easley, 80, of Coos Bay, will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, March 17 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2175 Newmark Avenue in Coos Bay. Private cremation rites were held under the care of Ocean View Memory Gardens Cremation & Burial Service.
Bill was born January 2, 1938 in Toledo, Oregon, the second oldest of four boys, to George and Hope (Read) Easley. He passed away February 12, 2018 in Coos Bay.
The family moved to Barview in the early 1950s. Bill loved to chop and channel cars in his teens and early 20s.
Bill married his first wife, Katie, and they had four children. He worked for Weyerhaeuser as a log-loader, then moved his young family to Idaho for a few years, also working in the woods. When Bill and Katie separated, he moved back to Oregon.
In Oregon, Bill met Carolyn and her four children. They married and moved to the Englewood area. He continued working in the woods until he talked his brother Mike into purchasing a log truck. He drove the log truck for a few years and then moved on to long-haul trucking.
Bill loved all of his children, but had a special place in his heart for his girls, Michelle and Lila. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Dan, Will, Darren, and Scott; daughters, Michelle, and Lila; brother, Mike and his wife; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by the one he missed every day, Carolyn. He is with her now.
Arrangements are under the care of Ocean View Memory Gardens Cremation & Burial Service, 541-888-4709.
