Nancy Lee Culver Henze Dehart

A memorial service for Nancy Lee Culver Henze Dehart, 84, of North Bend will be held at 11 am, Saturday, August 17 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1290 Thompson Road in Coos Bay with pastor Jon Strasman, officiating. Private cremation rites will be held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Nancy was born October 6, 1934 in Hollywood, California to Frank and Dorothy (Smith) Culver. She passed away August 7, 2019 in North Bend.

Nancy married Francis J. Henze in 1952. They had two daughters, Loretta Ann and Elizabeth Ann. Nancy joined the postal service in 1971; she worked as a clerk, was promoted to supervisor training. After graduating from the University of Redlands in California, Nancy was promoted to Postmaster in Corona, Calif. then manager training in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her fun job was teaching management and supervisory procedures at community colleges in Los Angeles, Riverside and Walnut, California. Education was very important to Nancy.

In 1985, Nancy married Bob Dehart, who was her best friend and love of her life. She also acquired three more wonderful children, Paul, Karlene and Jo Ellen. In 1990, she retired from the United States postal service and moved to North Bend.  She called his area “paradise”.  She was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where she formed a knitting group. She was a volunteer for OSU Extension and Church Women United. She also served on various community programs such as RSVP, OSU Advisory Committee, and North Bend Methodist Church. She served the Lord on various jobs.

Nancy is survived by husband, Robert Dehart Jr. of North Bend; children, Loretta A. Glaser of Las Vegas, Nevada, Karlene and Edward Textor of Fontana, Calif., Paul and Teresa Dehart of White Settlement, Texas ; son in law, Michael Orsini of Palmdale, Calif.; grandchildren, Eric Burgess of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Sherrie D. and husband, Brian Pike of Redlands , Calif.; great-grandchildren, Coleridge C. Burgess of Huntington Beach, Calif., Sonnet M. Burgess of La Verne, Calif. and Benjamin Pike of Redlands, Calif.; sister, Georgia L. Escobar of Laughlin, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Elizabeth Ann Henze and Jo Ellen Orsini.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nancy’s name may be made to the pastor’s discretionary fund at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1290 Thompson Road, Coos Bay, OR 97420.
