A memorial service to celebrate the life of Michael J. Smalley, 66, of Lakeside, will be held on Saturday, March 17th at 1:00 p.m. at the North Bend Chapel, 2014 McPherson Avenue, with pastor Paul Glazner of the Sutherlin Family Church officiating. All are invited to attend the luncheon to follow the service from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Osprey Point RV Resort, 1505 North Lake Road in Lakeside. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.

Mike was born on July 17, 1951 in Canyonville, Oregon to Granvel C. Smalley and Joan S. ( Juhl ) Smalley. He passed away peacefully at his home in Lakeside following a short battle with cancer.

Mike spent most of his childhood in Reedsport, where he graduated from Reedsport High School. He moved briefly to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he met and married his wife, Eileen, on November 29, 1974. They then returned home to Oregon and settled in Sutherlin where they raised two sons. Together, with his father, Mike established Smalley Trucking, which remains in business today. He later moved to Lakeside, where he built and managed Osprey Point RV Resort for 20 years until his retirement in June 2017. He had always been active in the community and dedicated his life to his family and his business.

Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Eileen Smalley of Lakeside; son, Shawn Smalley of Sutherlin; son, Jason Smalley of Roseburg; grandsons, Thomas, Andrew and Dylan Smalley of Sutherlin; granddaughters, Abrianna and Adysen Smalley of Roseburg; and brothers, Jim Smalley of Sutherlin, Chris Smalley of Santa Clarita, CA and Don Smalley of Santa Fe, NM.
