Lloyd C. Walker

Lloyd C. Walker, age 92, arrived in heaven on September 29, 2018. He was born on November 26, 1925 in Airipine, Arizona to Clarence and Minnie Etta Walker, the sixth of seven children.

 Lloyd enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and served in World War II as a demolition expert.  During his active duty he received a purple heart and commendation.  Upon his return home he was employed as a city bus driver.  About week later, a young girl walked onto the bus and stole his heart.  Three months later, February 7, 1948, Nellie and Lloyd became lifetime partners.  During their 70-year marriage, they had four children, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  Lloyd made a home for his new bride in Reno and became a heavy equipment operator for many years.  Soon the call of the Pacific brought the family to Coos Bay, Oregon where he owned and operated a mobile home park and commercial fished with Nellie as his partner. 

While in Coos Bay, Lloyd also served as a deacon for church and taught Sunday school with Nellie.  He drove school bus and would sing with the kindergarteners while driving them home. He was a devoted husband and father who instilled strong family values in his children.  Lloyd is remembered for his great storytelling ability, his sense of humor, integrity, faith, and his compassion for others.  He enjoyed reading western novels, hunting, fishing, camping, and feeding each new grandchild their first candy cane.

Lloyd is survived by the love of his life, Nellie Walker, and children Allan Walker, Louetta Jansen, Laurie Nordahl and Lisa Newsum; all awaiting the day to reunite and celebrate with him in heaven. 

A graveside service will take place on October 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Roseburg National Cemetery.
