James Michael Oxford

March 24, 1954 – July 26, 2017

 

A Celebration of life will be held for James “Michael” Oxford, 63, of Coos Bay, on Saturday, September 23rd at 1:30 p.m. at  Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 400 Highland Avenue in Coos Bay, with  Reverend Christy Close Erskine presiding. Private cremation rites were held at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay with a private inurnment at  Emmanuel Episcopal Church All Saints Columbarium.

 

Michael was born on March 24, 1954 in Hollywood, California to Ernie Oxford and Marilyn ( Parrish ) Oxford. He passed away peacefully at his home in Coos Bay on July 26, 2017.

 

Michael was a graduate of Humboldt State University and was a Forester with the BLM in Coos Bay for 35 years. He was active for many years with the Boy Scouts of America, Southwestern Oregon Youth Association and Emmanuel Episcopal Church. After retiring his favorite days were spent camping, backpacking, golfing and wood working.

 

Michael was a man of faith, courage, integrity and Humor. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

 

Michael is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kerry Oxford; sons, Jeremiah Oxford of Corvallis and Ryan Oxford and his wife Stephanie of Portland; mother, Marilyn Oxford of Lincoln, CA; sister, Janet Bass and her husband Nicky of Lincoln, CA; and brother, Ron Oxford and his wife Clara of McLaughlin of South Dakota.

 

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Ernie Oxford.
