Yvonne Elizabeth (Henslee) Murray

A funeral service will be held for Yvonne E. Murray, 88, of Coos Bay at 1 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the North Bend United Methodist Church, 2289 Meade St., with the Rev. Jerry Steele presiding. Refreshments will be served following the service. A private family graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial park Cemetery in Coos Bay.
Yvonne was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Riddle to Buck and Elizabeth Henslee. She passed away peacefully July 19, 2012, just short of her 89th birthday.
Her family soon moved to Marshfield, where Yvonne grew up and then raised her own family. She was glad to be an Oregonian and loved living in the Coos Bay/North Bend area.
Yvonne had many friends from high school, plus her tenure with General Telephone as an operator until retirement, her fellowship with members of the North Bend First Methodist Church and being a lover of music and the musicians who were in her life.
In 1944, she married Fred Murray, who was her “forever” musician. They had three children, Diana Hackett of Florence, Mike Murray of Cheshire and Elizabeth Hounsel of Federal Way, Wash. Her family was her pride and joy. Nothing made her happier than the celebration of her birthday with as many family members and friends around her as could gather.
She leaves behind her three children and their spouses, Bobbie Murray and Dan Hackett; grandchildren, Kurt Hargens, Marci Stadiem, Krista Dawson, Sarah Brady, Megan Lindsay and Alex and Kaitlyn Hounsel; great-grandchildren, Grace, Paige and Jake Dawson and Samuel and Ella Brady; and special friends, Don Mort, Betty Kelly and Maryann Lewellyn.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Fred and her grandsons Ryan Murray and Jay Hargens.
