Cremation rites were held for Dale H. Uppinghouse, 95, of North Bend at Ocean View Crematory in Coos Bay.
Dale was born Jan. 20, 1917, in Spokane, Wash., the son of Truman and Jennie (Williams) Uppinghouse. He died May 1, 2012, in North Bend.
He was schooled in Great Falls, Mont., where he graduated from high school. His family moved to Colorado and homesteaded then moved to Portland.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic. His passion was flying. He held a pilot's licence and had many hours in the air. His vocation was as a federal aviation inspector, his job being to make air traffic and planes as safe as possible.
Dale is survived by a niece, Jennie Yates of Great Falls, Mont.
