A celebration of life for William “Bill” Trentz, 81, of North Bend will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 9 at the North Bend Lanes, 1225 Virginia Avenue in North Bend.  Please join us with your shined up motorcycle or classic car for a good old time.

William was born May 11, 1936 to Fred and Myrtle Trentz in Chicago, Ill.  He passed away August 18, 2017 in Springfield. 

Bill moved from Wisconsin to North Bend in 1952, and attended North Bend High School.  He went to work for Weyerhauser at the North Bend sawmill in 1955.

In 1958, Bill married Faye O’Leary, and they had four children.  He retired from Weyerhauser in 1998 after 43 years of service.  Bill proudly served as a volunteer firefighter with NBFD for over 35 years.  He also enjoyed involvement in the Elks, Eagles, and numerous car clubs, showing classic cars he lovingly restored.  He was also a coin enthusiast, which got him the nickname, “Papa Penny”, with his grandchildren.  Nothing pleased Bill more than the time he spent with his family.  Bill and Faye had just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on August 1st, before his passing. 

He is survived by his wife, Faye; children, Betsy Messerle, Kelly Trentz, Kristi and Mike Erbele, and Cindy Trentz; sister, Sandra Jo; long time best friend, Tino Periera, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
