Adam Christopher Stoneburg

Adam Christopher Stoneburg was born Feb. 13, 1986 in Eugene to Joe and Donna (Salsbury) Stoneburg. He died of Stage 4 pancreatic-liver and numerous internal cancers, at 31 years old Jan. 18, 2018, peacefully in his sleep, in Coos Bay. He fought to come into this world as a 4-pound, 6-weeks early preemie so we could love him a wee bit longer, and fought a valiant, courageous 7 ¾-month battle against cancers, to stay in this world. Now, free of pain, he lies asleep in the arms of the Lord.
He was educated in Coos Bay schools, retaining presidential excellence in academics K-12. He was in the top 25 of his 2004 Marshfield graduating class. He was active in football, track, cross country and student council. He also was an announcer on the KMHS radio morning program. Adam was in Cub Scouts Pack No. 68, (Arrow of Light), joined troop No. 9, Boy Scouts, at age 10, Order of the Arrow, advancing to the rank of Eagle Scout December 2003. He received his Eagle badge April 6, 2004, presented by Marine Staff Sergeant Whitehouse, two certificates of achievement from Montana and Oregon state Marine Corps. commandants. Adam was a fifth-generation Methodist, a member of the McLean Clan, a great-grandson of Pioneers of Eastern Montana, great-great-grandson of Captain and Mrs. Hamilton, 7th Calvary (a survivor of the Little Big Horn Massacre) under Captain F. Benteen.
He attended Oregon State University, worked in San Francisco as a prep chef at numerous large hotels, and graduated from OCCI at Southwestern Oregon Community College with two associate degrees in culinary and baking and pastries. He worked as the SWOCC cafeteria breakfast/lunch chef and lunch/dinner chef, while attending school. While there, he was on chef Chris Foltz’ Collegiate Ice Carving teams and competed in 2015 and 2016 National Collegiate ice carving competitions in Frankenmuth, Mich., and Bellingham, Wash., winning bronze and silver medals the first year, then silver and gold medals his second year. He most recently worked at The Mill Casino-Hotel as a prep chef.
He was preceded in death by an oldest stillborn brother; four grandparents; aunts, Gayle and Elyse; and uncles, Dale and Stan.
He is survived by his constantly loving and supportive parents; older brother, Ryan and wife, Samantha; cherished partner, Jennifer; aunts, Alita and Terri; uncles, John and Bert; numerous cousins; and faithful friend, Chris Foltz.
Forever in our hearts, he will always be lovingly remembered.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
